Cathy Harris, a private citizen, has called for a citizen's petition for a US Constitutional Convention term limits ratification to phase-in limits for US Senate, US House, and Supreme Court of the United States

Naples, FL (IPRWIRE) Thurs, Dec. 7th, 2006 -- Cathy Harris (www.justsaynoemore.com) is rallying support for a Constitutional Convention term limit ratification that she believes is the best answer to decreasing inefficiency and corruption at the national political level.

She stated in a written release: "Problem: Organized corruption by United States elected officials after decades in office. Answer: Set up a Constitutional Convention term limits ratification so that long-term corruption schemes can be disrupted by making regular changes in the House and Senate and Supreme Court."

The only political head that is currently restricted to limited time in office is the Presidency. The US Constitution Amendment #22 of 2/27/51 restricts the length of office that a person can hold as President. This results in a disruption of the power balance.

Harris goes on to add that a 6/14-15/05 Fox News poll resulted with 68% of Americans in favor of term limits.

Harris believes that with a Constitutional Convention term limits ratification imposed on politicians, corruption in politics would decrease by the simple math of it. The less time a person has to gain favor with those who would pay and bribe for favors, the less abuse that will take place. Given some of the recent legal problems faced by many US politicians, many of whom have been in office for decades, she may have a valid point.
